Traffic!
Driving in LA is always enough to frazzle the most patient of budhas. Most would think that if you manage to avoid the freeways it's the same as driving in any other city. It's not. For some reason people think that it's ok to park anywhere. Yes, I know there's no parking. Every other house has a driveway and garages are used for storage of everything except the car. Double-parking is considered a necessity for 10 minute lengths of time. However, parking in the middle of the lane is not!!!! Must you really stop in the middle of the lane in order to put the bookbag in the backseat and then get into the front. I think not. Especially when there is an empty space on the curb 10 feet ahead of you. Now let's talk about parking on the curb along main street. Yes, I realize there are meters there. Do you really think your car fits in the 5 foot wide lane? How about your car and your 5 foot wide body getting out of the driver's side of the car as traffic is rushing by? Must you really tempt me? Should I slam on my brakes when you decide to explode from your car or swerve into the other lane full of cars? Crawl through the passenger side if you have to park there! Last of all there are the damn buses. Yes, I realize if it is between me and the bus, I lose, but for god's sake I was in this lane first. Get your own lane. Oh I forgot, you can't drive there because someone has parked there, thinking they can really use the metered parking.
